'schulterblick' means looking over your shoulder. driving students get trained about the importance of performing this gesture before switching lanes or taking turns. ultimately, 'schulterblick' is a gesture of looking behind you while simultaneously moving forward. in life, there are moments where looking back briefly might be beneficial before taking a turn.

when i was a child, i used to have strong emotional responses to disposed-of objects that i encountered on the streets. i felt that each object must possess a soul that suffers from such a desolate margin existence.

when i found this car door frame on the streets of berlin, i decided to use it as a medium for connecting to my childhood self.
